PR, Social Media & Certfication:
An Exciting Combination

I had a great afternoon tea meeting with two of the most outstanding PR consultants I know, Andrew Chow of IdeaMart and Alice George of Alice George Communications at Fullerton Hotel, Singapore. Alice George and Andrew Chow shared their thoughts on how Public Relations can help SMEs to attract more new customers through more effective media exposure.

Alice shared that most companies treat PR as an after thought, when in fact PR should be involved right in the beginning for strategic planning. She added that PR is really not Press Release, it's Public Relations, and you really need to have a strategic plan, rather than short-term last minute tactics, to do it well.


Andrew on the other hand shared the role of social media in PR. With many of the journalist now on social media, it is really important for SMEs to have a good social media presence, as these news on social media do get picked up by the Gen-Y journalist.

We also had a great discussion about our upcoming Certificate in Social Media (Marketing or PR) programme. NetProfitQuest will be launching our Certificate in Social Media (Marketing) in November 2009 and Certificate in Social Media (PR) in January 2010.

This is the first of its kind in Asia and NetProfitQuest is proud to work with Andrew and Alice on this project.
